5 Ways to Get Involved with National Shooting Sports Month this August

Need an excuse to go shooting this month? Probably not, but in case you do, August is National Shooting Sports Month®. It’s a 31-day excuse to go target shooting, introduce someone new to the shooting sports and share your enthusiasm for the sport!

Here are 5 ways to get involved this August:

1. Find a Host Near You

Visit LetsGoShooting.org to locate local ranges and retailers near you that are signed on as hosts. Invite others to join you! It’s a great way to get newcomers involved and share your passion for the shooting sports.

2. Participate in the #RangeChallenge For Your Chance to Win!

Use the National Shooting Sports Month host/events map to find a participating range near you or simply print the target and try it out at your local range.

After shooting the official #RangeChallenge target, upload a photo of you and/or your target OR post a photo or video to your Instagram feed using the hashtag #RangeChallenge for your chance to win one of ten $500 gift cards.

3. Learn at Home

You don’t even have to leave the house for this one! Consider identifying an area of interest in the shooting sports and researching how to participate, what equipment you need and where events are offered. Here are some more hands-on ways to take action at home:

  • Enhance your knowledge and skills in safe firearm handling
  • Try dry-fire practice. Make sure you remove all ammo from the room you are practicing in!
  • Clean your guns to be more prepared for your next range visit.
  • Send a range invitation to a friend. Consider gifting them a range visit.
  • Share your favorite range memories with your friends. See “Share Your Experience” below!

4. Join the +ONE® Movement

Join the +ONE movement and invite someone to the range today. Take the pledge and help grow participation in the shooting sports.

Mentoring a friend in firearm safety and making them more aware of the fun opportunities in the shooting sports and hunting is one of the best ways to participate in the National Shooting Sports Month celebration. Everyone loves a great mentor!
